Robert Leonard Zimmerman
Robert Leonard Zimmerman, 65, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. He was a lifetime resident of Memphis, a 1965 graduate of Overton High School and a retiree of Memphis Light, Gas & Water. "Leo" was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend to many. His greatest passions were bowling, golf and anything outdoors - especially 'just a swangin'. He leaves his wife of 41 years, Joan Robertson Zimmerman of Cordova; two daughters, Ginger Zimmerman of Hanover, MA and Tracie Zimmerman of Memphis; his sister Shirley Bowser of PA; and mother-in-law Virginia Robertson of Madison, MS.

Overton Class of 1965
Michael C. DeHaan, 64 of Memphis retired from Siemens Medical Systems, passed away January 10, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Mary DeHaan, three sons, Brian, Jeff, and Daniel; two sisters Edna, Barbara and one aunt, Margaret Hochman and five grandchildren. Prayers will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011 at St. Brigid Catholic Church. Interment fill follow in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. MARY ANN MORGAN FULTZ, 61, of Memphis, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009. She worked for Methodist Alliance for the last couple of years. She leaves a son, Britt Acred, Jr., a daughter, Mary Ann Acred Jones of Horn Lake, MS; a brother, Butch Morgan of Horn Lake, MS; a nephew, Ken Morgan of Jonesboro, AR, and five granddaughters. The family will be receiving friends from 5 - 7 pm Friday, August 28 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:30pm, Saturday, August 29 at Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock, AR. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Wings Cancer Foundation at West Clinic (www.wingscancerfoundation.org).

Robert Pennington - 6l, of Charlotte, NC, died May 6, 2009. Graduate of OHS 1965. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Providence United Methodist Church. A complete obituary will appear in the Sunday edition of The Observer.

The Commercial Appeal, 09 September 2008 - DELL VIRGINIA DUNN HELMS, 88, of Memphis, passed away September 18, 2008, in Clarksville, TN. Mrs. Helms, the widow of George I. Helms, was a retired Memphis City Schools teacher. She was a member of White Station Church of Christ, the National Teacher's Association, the Audubon Society, and the Smithsonian Society. She is survived by her sister, Lois Rene Gallivan of Clarksville, TN and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be 1p.m. Monday, September 22, at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.

April 14, 2007 Robert Bryan (bob) Fink 59, of Memphis died Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital. he was the owner of Bryans Carpets, veteran of the US Marine Corp, and was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church. (1965 Overton Graduate).

January 2, 2007 - Mrs. Galloway Obituary. Mildred Stanley Galloway, 78, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville. She was retired from teaching in the Memphis City Schools and from owning Miss Muff'n Bake Shoppe in Germantown, TN. Mildred is survived by her husband, Rex; her sons, David Galloway of Okinawa, Japan and Stephen Galloway of WIlliston, TN; her grandchildren, Morgan, Ashley, Heather and Miller Galloway; her brothers, Lonzo Stanley of Russellville, AR, Bill Stanley of Marked Tree, AR, and James Stanley of Cordova; her sisters, Margaret Love of Jackson, TN, and Novella Short of Blacksburg, VA. Mildred is remembered by her students and numerous brides, as "Miss Muff'n;" and more importantly, as a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her visitation service will be on Sunday, January 7 from 2:30-5:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Ave. Services will be at Collierville United Methodist Church Sanctuary on the Square on Monday, January 8 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Collierville United Methodist Church.

December 30, 2007. Carol Ann "Kay" Krause, 68, of Germantown died Saturday, December 30, 2006, at Kirby Pines Manor. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Park United Methodist Church where she was a member. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p/m/ at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Kay was a graduate of Southwestern College, taught school at Overton High School for over 30 years, and was an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Thelma Krause, and two brothers, Ron Krause and Gerald Krause. She leaves her sister-in-law, Pat Krause, of Germantown; four nieces, Kara Krause Raburn, of Cordova, Lee Ann Krause-Henry, of Houstin, TX, Kary Krause, of Florida, and Kathy Krause, also of Florida; a nephew, David Krause, of Florida; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
